During Ramzan time one of the fastest moving products of Bakers is Plain China Grass. China Grass was discovered around 1958 in japan when some surplus seaweed soup had jelled after a nights freezing. It was also called agar-agar, the Malay / Indonesian name for red algae from which jelly is produced. Plain China grass is used as a thickener for soups, in fruit preserves and other desserts.
